Amanda Bossard graduated from high school in 1992. She then began an education in marine science at Alaska Pacific University, Anchorage. Bossard launched her career as a seafood commercial worker in the year 1999. She started working on the F/V Sunset an a65' halibut-schooner that was turned into a tender for salmon in the name of Murat Aritan. She had been working in commercial fishing since 1993. Bossard and Aritan have been married since 1993 and have come together to claim their place in their industry. They both believe in saving as well as profiting from renewable resources in the industry of seafood. In 2007, she became a mother of two children Bella aged 3 as well as Andre 1 Bossard and then relocating back to live in Philadelphia and opened an online direct market wholesale distributor of seafood named Otolith. Its name is an affectionate reminder of her intimate fish biology knowledge and her husband's extensive involvement in the seafood industry often keeping them apart for 5 months or more at a time while they focus on economic and environmental objectives that reflect both their independence and commitment to their community wherever they reside.
